Those guys on The Sartorialist aren’t even trying. Check out ‘What Ali Wore‘, an affectionate record of what Ali, an 83 year old tailor who lives in Berlin, wears every day. Australian waitress, Zoe Pawton, 29, started to look forward to seeing the outfits of the immaculately dressed man who passed her cafe at 9am every morning. Eventually she asked if she could take his photo and the Tumblr blog, ‘What Ali Wore’ was born.
With her broken German and his limited English she has gleaned a few things about the snappy dresser. He moved to Berlin from Turkey 44 years ago and was a doctor till he retired but instead of giving up work altogether he became a tailor. He has 18 children and for the last 10 years he has lived alone.
What Ali Wore only started in August 2012 but has already gone viral.
