No public transport taken, only wine with Nikki Fletcher’s WineTubeMap. Her wine version of the London Tube Map simplifies wine so that people can learn about and enjoy different varieties without getting overwhelmed by the science. She also runs WineTubeMap tastings in Edinburgh.
Nikki of Convivium Wine explains: ‘Hop aboard at your local, favourite station and travel along to discover some different wines. The premise is easy, each line is themed along a certain flavour and evolves as you travel along the line so one station along will never be too different. Interchanges are stations that fit on to more than one line so you can change direction.’
‘The WineTubeMap experiences are tastings like no other, designed for people who love drinking wine, would like to more but don’t fancy going back to school to do it! In the basement of the Bon Vivant’s Companion – deli/wine shop and next door to one of Edinburgh’s favourite watering holes on Thistle Street we take you on a journey of food and wine discovery using the WineTubeMap as the basis for your trip.
The next few tastings lined up for 2012 are; 31 May is all fizz – everything from pink bubbly to vintage champagne – matched with food and 7 June is the Revelation line so will be very gourmet with high quality classics like Barolo, Burgundy and Chianti. The final tasting on the 14 June is the spice trail and will cover a variety of different spicy foods to which people often struggle to match wines.
