In November 2013, The BRuery, a new microbrewery and bar opened in the centre of Dunfermline, Fife. Owner David Austin, along with brewer, Douglas Ross developed de Brus beer, the town’s own blond ale, named after King Robert the Bruce. The BRuery has provide a home for the microbrewery and a bar serving the beer on draft. This is David’s second venture in Dunfermline – he already owns Reuben’s Cafe and Wine Store.
David has brought in Steven Young to manage The BRuery. Steven has years of experience from Delivino’s in Crieff, Pacos in Perth and he used to own The Grill Restaurant/Dos Amigos at the Glen Gates in Dunfermline.
The bar also serves food such as platters and snacks and there are plans to have beer tastings and live music.
De Brus beer is an acknowledgement of Dunfermline’s medieval brewing heritage – there used to be seven breweries in the town – and David’s beer has since won plaudits from Oz Clarke and a best beer review in The Scotsman.

Are you doing food on the evening of Friday 13th December? Are you taking bookings?
Many thanks
Joan kirkpatrick
Hi Joan, The Bruery is more of bar than a restaurant. They dont take bookings but they do some food such as sharing platters, flatbreads and fish and chips. We featured them in our online magazine, Avocado Sweet, but I happen to know they don’t take bookings. Thanks
