SXSW, the flourishing Texan festival which has become a sort of Sundance for music, is underway. It’s an event at which Scotland has always made its present felt and this year, with support from Creative Scotland and the Scottish Music Industry Association, there’s a particularly good showing from Scottish bands. Edinburgh’s Young Fathers – gathering a reputation as the best Scottish rappers of all time – Glasgow’s well connected Chvrches and Admiral Fallow are all on the bill along with at least seven other Scottish bands. Frightened Rabbit, who hail from Selkirk’s and whose recent mighty single The Woodpile saw them break further into mainstream popularity, will also play. Alongside the music, Scottish business is in town for the Interactive Festival. Scottish Development International has helped support twelve companies, including the potentially world beating Skyscanner, in coming to Austin this year.
Have a listen, below, to some of the Scotland’s finest.
