Philip Pullman discussion event, Saturday 9 September, 2-3pm, Waterstones, Dunfermline – free event
Waterstones, Dunfermline is hosting a Philip Pullman book group in early September as part of an exciting new arts festival. The discussion will focus on Northern Lights, the first volume in ‘His Dark Materials’ series, which was made into a film called The Golden Compass, starring Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig. The official book store for the Festival is hosting the afternoon tea and discussion. The event will be entertaining for both fans, and those yet to discover the series – absolutely all are welcome. The event is the first in a series of reading groups of His Dark Materials leading up to the release of his new series with the publication of La Belle Sauvage.

The four-day Outwith Festival, 7-10 September, features music, comedy, theatre and literature. Outwith is being organised by bids company Dunfermline Delivers, along with arts hub Fire Station Creative, culture magazine Avocado Sweet and local author, Caroline Copeland. Caroline, who coordinated the literature line up for the festival said: “It’s brilliant that we have some great literature events as part of this new Outwith Festival.”
