These beautiful illustrations were painted between 1959 and 1970 by painter and illustrator Michael Johnson. Born in Thirsk, North Yorkshire Michael completed a three year scholarship in art and design before joining a design company in Leeds. Later he moved to London and worked for Carlton Artists which, at the time, had the biggest studio in Europe.
In the late 60s he moved to America, where he worked publications such as McCall’s, Cosmopolitan, Woman’s Day and Sports Illustrated.
In 1975 Michael moved to France where he still lives and continues to work.
