If you want to make like Clark Gable and Ava Gardner in Mogambo and hang out in a safari tent, look no further than Falkirk. Carr’s Hill Caravan site, which enjoys fine views of the Ochil Hills, has just introduced two luxury safari tents. The tents are located separately from the touring pitches and offer a unique retreat in the Stirlingshire countryside .
Carr’s Hill is situated in a peaceful rural area and yet is very accessible from the motorway network. It is within easy reach of Stirling, Loch Lomond and The Trossachs and is very handy if you want a close up view of the much photographed Kelpies.
Each tent has a log burning stove, a verandah, private shower room with wc and wash basin, hot water and cooking facilities, king size and triple bunk bedrooms, sofa bed, outdoor seating board games, chiminea and BBQ. All lighting is by storm lanterns, solar lights, candles and torches. Although the tents are off grid, there is a wifi hotspot and power points in the reception building to charge phones and plug in the all important straighteners.
Rates start from £85 per tent per night Mon-Thurs and £95 per tent per night Fri-Sun with a minimum 2 night stay. Each tent sleeps up to 6 people. For more information and to check availability, click here.
I have been watching the shed of the year and found it fascinating and entertaining. I am hoping to buy a shed soon and have gone from a place to keep the mower to oooh what can I create. I particularly like the ones that up cycle and reuse. The above mentioned is my favourite to date, a bonus being its in Scotland too.
