The very first Very Lovely Sauce came about after a Sunday lunch with friends when Michelle Wilkinson found herself having to conjure up an impromptu dessert. She delved into the freezer for vanilla ice cream and confidently pimped it to an acceptable culinary level by whipping up a batch of sea-salted caramel sauce as topping. It was hailed by all as very lovely indeed – and she decided from that point on that she must make sauce.
The Very Lovely Sauce Company was formed and production started in October 2015 . All of the sauces are hand made in small batches in Fife from high quality ingredients. The range currently consists of three delicious flavours:
Sea-Salted Caramel Sauce: A classic caramel sauce made with Hebridean Sea Salt. Excellent warm on ice cream, as a filling for Banoffee Pie or straight from the jar.
Gingerbread Caramel Sauce: Spiced like gingerbread and great with stewed rhubarb and ice-cream, stirred through the filling of an apple crumble or warmed on ice-cream.
Liquorice Caramel Sauce: A more unusual flavour delicious with ice cream or, again, straight-off-the-spoon.
Very Lovely Sauces cost £5.50 a jar and are available from stockists throughout the country as well as online.
This lovely sauce( the sea salted version) was a ‘wedding favour’ at wedding I attended last year and to say it was delicious is a definite understatement! Buy some and be prepared to have ‘angels singing on your tastebuds’
