A stitch in time saves on the vet’s bills with Knit Your Own Dog, created by expert knitters and dog-lovers Sally Muir and Joanna Osborne. First there was a book Best in Show: Knit Your Own Dog with knitting patterns for 25 different breed of dogs then followed the website selling individual patterns and a best in show competition featuring customers’ best efforts.
You can also mix and match, knitting your own mongrel from a random selection of pedigree dog parts. Take the legs and tail of the Poodle and put them on the Labrador and at a fraction of the price you have knitted your own Labradoodle although don’t expect Krufts to approve.
So if your desperation for a dog means you are at your knit’s end you can always purl yourself a puppy.
