Using just a razor blade and a needle, and without the aid of a magnifying glass, Brazilian born carpenter Dalton Ghetti exquisitely sculpts the graphite tips of pencils. The work is painstaking: he took over two years to complete the alpahabet pictured above. But for Ghetti this is part of the charm. In a world where people want everything 'fast, fast, fast' he hopes his miniature works may encourage them to to stop a moment and appreciate the beauty in small things.
Ghetti has been carving since his schooldays and says what most amazes people about his work is the patience involved although, to save his eyes, the Connecticut based carpenter works for just an hour a day on his sculptures.
Ghetti clearly has a massive talent for tiny work – just don't ask to borrow his pencil.
