Drift, which previews at Pettycur Bay Sand Dunes in Fife from 26-29 June, is an innovative piece of visual theatre inspired by the true story of Shetland crofter Betty Mouat, who in 1886, aged 61, was the only passenger on the coastal cutter Columbine bound for Lerwick. Thieves told stories of Dunfermline’s long history and this was the play’s tribute to the women who worked as miners in Fife. Dunfermline born Gregory Burke’s has written the screenplay for 71 which opens today, 10 October. The film is directed by Frenchman Yann Demange and tells the story of a disorientated young British soldier lost in the streets of Belfast at the height of the Troubles. Described by The Telegraph as a ‘stunningly well crafted thriller’, reviews have so far been superb.
